Transform Hub Group CEO, James Calderbank has been crowned the winner of Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Federation of Small Businesses Awards 2023 for the North West.
Beating off stiff competition from worthy shortlisted nominees, James and the Transform Hub Group have been recognised for incredible business growth in the current challenging economic landscape.
Starting off with the first Transform Hub location in 2018, James has built the Transform Hub Group into a franchise model.
James said, “In the first lockdown with our gyms closed I struggled and sank into depression. With the help of my business partners Wendy Barker and Justin Devonshire, we realised that our fellow gym sector business owners would be feeling the same and we needed to help. We pulled ourselves out of our anxious state and outlined all the processes that made our Hubs profitable and successful. Over many Zooms, we created our franchise model blueprint which was launched with our first franchise in 2021.”
The Transform Hub Group now operates over 20 locations throughout the North West of England and London. A recent £1m investment from AJ Bell founders Andy Bell and Fergus Lyons will be earmarked for helping more people become Transform Hub franchisees.
“We have a big goal of helping 20,000 busy over 30s to look and feel great every month. The way we can achieve this mission is by empowering gym owners to create profitable businesses that are simple to run with easy-to-implement processes. It is a formula that is working and allowing gym owners to stop stressing about sales, marketing, and compliance to focus on their zone of genius which is always helping clients.”
James and the Transform Hub team will now compete against other regional winners in the Federation of Small Businesses national final at the NEC in Birmingham in May.
